Brief History

Snehalaya started its work in a small rented house at Palam Gaon in 2002 with a group of five neglected children from the street. Snehalaya tries to offer a home- like environment. It gives educational, economical and emotional support to help the children to restore the lost confidence. It ensures that every effort is extended to empower and reinstate them back into mainstream of society. Till date 290 children have availed the facilities.Today Snehalaya is a dear home for 35 such children.

All the children in our shelter home have been produced before the Child Welfare Committee as per the requirements of the Act and we are currently conducting follow-up and are involved in the process of tracing their homes so as to help reunite the children with their families. Aimed at ensuring the proper rehabilitation of the girl child, we have applied for the status of “Children’s Home” which will enable us to retain the child for a longer period for educational and vocational training purposes and ensure the child a more secure future.
