Brief History

The Daughters of Mary help of Christians first came to Nepal in 1997 at the request of the Jesuits to collaborate with them in the long standing St. Xavier’s School in which they wanted to include girls. The sisters were allotted the vacant building which until then was used as the parish church of Jawalakhel. In the year 2001 the house of Thecho was bought from a certain Mr. Mrigendra Dixit.

It is 11 Km. away from St. Xavier’s School. Two sisters belonging to the community of Jawalakhel stayed here catering to the needs of the locality: tailoring classes for the women of the area, facility for the school going children to have a place and a teacher to assist them in their studies and spoken English for those who wanted.
