AUXILIUM DUM DUM: Parents' Orientation Programme was held in Auxilium Convent School Dum Dum for the parent's of Class VII students'. The Resource person was Mr. S. C. Dubey . He dealt with the topic "successful patenting". Paents were encouraged to treat children with love, respect and to give importance to their feelings.

At the beginning of the session he conveyed the idea that parents need to be aware of their self image in order to understand their children. He advised to take a look in the mirror before criticizing others. He explained that in order to get the true view of someone, one must look through clean windows. Parents are advised to take utmost care to ensure a peaceful and friendly environment of their home. Showing love towards one's spouse is the best gift for their children.

He exhorted the parents to engage the children in household chores that involve both the parents and the child alike. Above all teach them to be a good human being not just a good scholar. Children must be respectful towards elders. However instead of demanding respect from them show respect to your child and they will reciprocate.

He also dwelt some of the problems of adolescence period: i. Anger ii. Depression iii. Withdrawal. Other problems may include lack of confidence, destructive attitude, over smartness, suicidal tendencies. Reasons for the above problems: a. Hormonal changes b. wanting space of their own c. Negligence/ Lack of care. He proposed some solutions to settle the above mentioned problems. Consider your children as guests of your home, i.e. give them importance, honour their feelings but don't allow any negative or destructive behavior, correct it. Do not use any negative words that indulge in negative thinking.

The session deeply touched the minds of parents and it was indeed an inspiring one for them. At the end of the session Mr.Dubey patiently answered the queries of many parents.
