Report on the Teachers' Orientation


AUXILIUM CONVENT-GOBRA: AUXILIUM CONVENT SCHOOL, BARASAT: Auxilium Convent School, Barasat arranged for teachers' orientation on 28th of June 2014. Rev. Fr Saroj Mallick SDB, Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre Kalyani was the resource person, who made the session truly vibrant and convincing.

The session began with a prayer to Don Bosco in accordance with the theme of the session which revolved around the spirituality of Don Bosco. The session laid emphasis on the different challenges of life which the children encounter in today's age. They are lost in the cacophony of success, achievement, victory and triumph. Words like 'trial' and 'failure' doesn't figure in their life. Here

comes the relevance of Don Bosco's system of education which speaks of the Preventive System. Fr. Mullick spoke about the role of teachers to equip the children with life skills to sustain themselves in this vulnerable world.

The first half of the session ended with a significant emphasis on teacher-student relationship nurtured in joyous freedom. The second half began with a group discussion which saw different groups coming up with varied ideas. All the groups unanimously agreed that a healthy environment is indispensable for the holistic development of the child. The challenge is to create an environment of love, caring, sharing and acceptance.

The session concluded with an emphasis upon a teachers' selfless dedication to his/her profession where 'Reason', 'Religion' and 'Rapport' would stand as the pillars of support.
