The annual general unit meet of the past pupils


Dum Dum: The Annual General Unit meet of the Past Pupil's association was held on 15th December 2013. The day began with a short prayer service animated by Superior Sr.Lucy Kachira with help of a power point that had a beautiful message for all assembled Past Pupils, in line with the theme of the day 'Save the girl child'.

We invoked God's blessings as the lamp was lighted by Sr.Lucy Kachira, Sr.Elizabeth Makil, Sr.Elizabeth Joseph the Province Delegate for the Past Pupil, Sr.Esther Rani Abraham the Local Delegate and Mrs. Una Ex- Teacher of our School.

In order to celebrate the theme of the day 'SAVE THE GIRL CHILD" a solo dance was performed by Sreetama Ghosh which depicted how education helps to bring about awareness and helps to truly liberate all women form the shackles of illiteracy and discrimination.

Thereafter the stage was thrown open to five past pupil speakers to share their thoughts on the topic of 'save the girl child'. Sanjukta Das Gupta began the discussion elaborating on the various instances of discrimination that was prevalent in the society for all the women of this country. The next speaker Sushmita Kangilal also spoke elaborately on the plight of women and the various injustices mated out to them. Next speaker was Sangamitra Bhattacharya the current Secretary who narrated on incident to reiterate the need to act at the very instance which could go a long way in saving another person's life and truly make a difference in the society. She urged everybody to join hands and make a difference. Jagriti Chakraborty the youngest speaker also spoke of the hardships of the women folk and the need of the hour to empower women. The discussion was concluded by Namita Chatterjee who said that it was necessary to spread awareness and come forward to save every girl child. The discussion came to a close when Sr.Elizabeth Makil was invited to say a few words. She advised everybody to be prepared for all kinds of situations in life to be courageous enough to make the right decision.

The local delegate Sr.Esther Rani Abraham thanked the president and the council members for putting all their effort to make this AGM great success. She exhorted all to live by values learned in the school. She quoted the words of great Philosopher Confucius "The strength of a nation derives from the integrity of the home."

Vice president Ajanta Dutta presented the annual report of the various activities undertaken by the council in 2013. Several entertainment programmes were also put up by the past pupils and the evening school children. The days programme came to an end with school anthem. After which sumptuous lunch was served to all the past pupils. It was indeed very touching moment to see all the past pupils from various batches mingling with each other trying to relive the old days and celebrating being an Auxilian.
