Ghutiapara is a Village situated in the East of Chattisgarh in the district of Surguja surrounded by Hills and Jungles, plateaus and rivers. The people here belong to a homogeneous group called “Oraons” who form part of the large Adivasi tribals of India. Economically they are poor, as they are farmers who depend on good monsoons for their crops. At that time electricity is scarce and they cannot have recourse to modern irrigation facilities, but now the government is providing them with pumps for cultivation etc.. and they also receive more help with better seedlings and manure etc. thus the Chattisgarh government is encouraging the farmers to cultivate their lands. They grow rice and dhal, which are their lively food. The people live in a village style and their houses are made of mud walls with mud tiles on the roof.
